At Your Service...

Where I Am

I grew up on 9th and Quindaro, Kansas City, KS. The 'dotte!

A notorious neighborhood. But that comes later. In my early years the old folks ruled. All of the kids on the block could have their assess whooped… at one house… all at once…and the rest of the houses would have no problem with that. Needless to say, we kids all straightened up. A simple time, if not easy. It was a time filled with cook outs and sleep overs and comic books and grass cutting gigs, cartoons in the morning and wrestling on Sundays. Life was an adventure in my very small square of the planet.

The eighties ushered in the exodus of the old folks. The elders left us and their children took over. My mom’s generation. Their boldness, due to the new found “freedom” they exacted from the 60’s, left them unguarded, naïve, devoid of wisdom and susceptible to the carnage of the crack epidemic. The elders left and the zombies arrived. Despair and hopelessness moved in like mice in winter and were quickly made to feel right at home.

At the same time, the universe saw fit for me to be elsewhere. I found myself in Larrytown, USA... Rock Chalk Jayhawk land. The joys of the very small square were tucked safely away in memory in wake of the cosmic one that grew before me. That’s where I found my pen. Although many hold a certain responsibility for the literary path I am on, Professor Klader was the spark. “A spontaneous overflow of emotion” was the definition she gave IT. From then on, the beauty within a speck of dust could not miss my notice. If only I could write it down …

                                                So I try.

A Living Document

These "emotes" represent an anthology of my wildest exclamations, secret mantras and pieces of wisdom that I've picked up along the way. They are bits of beauty translated into words to remember and share. That is my goal. Thank you. I am humbled by your attention.
